- At this point, all students are fully into our final unit, Unit 6--Modern & Postmodern.
- We have taken notes over the time period, as well as the character Sherlock Holmes and his influence.
- All students were given a copy of the first Sherlock Holmes story, "A Study in Scarlet".
- We are reading most of this in class, but there will be a few chapters assigned for students to read at home. There will also be reading check quizzes for homework grades when this is done.
- By Wednesday, 12/9/15, all students should be caught up and ready to read the final chapter of part 2 (there are seven chapters in part 2). We will then begin our viewing of the t.v. show Sherlock. The episode that we will be viewing is a modernized version of the story that we just read. This episode is called "A Study in Pink" (it's available on Netflix if needed).
- On Friday, 12/11 we will be taking the last Unit Test of the semester over the story and the t.v. episode. Students should be paying close attention to the reflection of the modern and postmodern time periods in each version of the story.
- Following our study of Sherlock Holmes, we will begin getting ready for the final exam! Our exam is cumulative, and will take place on Thursday, 12/17. Students will receive a study guide, AND the best part is that the final exam can replace your lowest unit test grade of the semester!
