- Unit 5 is upon us! This unit will focus on The VIctorian time period that was briefly introduced before Thanksgiving break.
- This week, we will finish up our analysis of the film, Tess of the d'Urbervilles. This viewing is in search of understanding how the characters are impacted by Victorian society, ideals, and double standards.
- Once the film is completed, students will turn in an analysis chart that should have been completed during the viewing. This is all of the classwork for Unit 5, so it will be a significant grade.
- Next, students will read and annotate the article "Tess of the d'Urbervilles: An Overview" for homework.
- Finally, students will write an in class persuasive argument discussing their thoughts on whether or not Tess was the victim of her own conscience OR that the male characters were the villains of story who victimized Tess. Students should use the film chart and their notes from the article for support.
